Longcase Clocks

A variety of longcase clocks from Ireland

  • An early clock by Pat Smith. Note the heavy Corinthian style pillars, long trunk, and door with paneling above and below the lenticle.

  • A Dublin clock in mahogany by George Pilkington, with swan neck pediment terminating in rosettes and convex frieze decorated with foliage and a central lion's head.

  • Francinia Dorcas Tuke was the niece of George Barton in Wicklow and became his apprentice watchmaker. While working with Mr Barton, they were joined by Thomas Gelletlie whom she married. A rare clock signed F Gelletlie the name of a woman clockmaker.
