Pull and Repeat mechanism by John Crosthwaite of Dublin
Outside the front plate the arbor terminates in a cam. This cam lifts a locking plate or flirt on the hour striking side providing hourly repeat. The end of the lifting lever nearest the cam acts as a hook for the quarter striking rack. There is a gathering pallet for the underside of the quarter rack. The tail of this rack engages with the quarter snail.
Hourly repeating is effected by the flirt which allows lifting of the rack hook and unlocking of the striking mechanism. This allows the pinwheel to rotate freely permitting striking as determined by the hour rack.
